In this post, we will share with you some ideas to make your engagement photos in Quito based on our experience as wedding photographers.
Let’s started with a little context. Ecuador is the kind of country which had all types of natural landscapes such as volcanoes, beach, jungle, mountains, waterfalls, lagoons and even the marvelous Galapagos Islands.
With that in mind, you could arrive in Quito, which is the capital of Ecuador. The city is located in the middle of the world at 2600mts above the sea. And it has the mix of a Spanish colonial town and the modern urban.
The first option is an obvious one because Quito has the best colonial oldtown preserved in America.
You could get to the old town using services like Uber, Taxi or the public bus. Here you would see colorful houses, with the colonial architecture with balconies full of flowers. There is also the “Plaza Grande” which is the main square of the old town. Here is also the government House and the Cathedral of the city.
Usually, there is more crowded so that you should have it into consideration in case you are more introverted. Nevertheless, you could have amazing photos using that in favor.
As there are a lot of photographic, we could walk around the streets and take pictures of that.
The second option is in the mountains. We could go to 4000mts above the sea in the Pichincha volcano.
There is a cable car that gets us to the base of the volcano. The ride normally takes around 20 min and it is open at 08:00.
This is a more adventurous engagement photo session because you have the paramo view and the weather could change fast from a dense fog or rain into a blue sky included a rainbow.
The space is so big that you could walk a few minutes and no one would interrupt the session, here you could be more intimate and maybe the only witness will be some wild rabbits or a Llama.
Another location for your engagement photos in Quito could be Guapulo park. Here we have a more controlled green space with big old trees and flowers.
Also, there are some places with gardens and stairs that you could use as a background. There is an impressive view of the valley, or a lower mountain full of trees.
If you want to play with some reflections the park has a small lagoon which has contrasts with the building from the neighborhood above the park.
Sometimes the place is so quiet that you would only hear the birds or the wind.
Near the before location, you find one of the famous neighborhoods of the city. Here are some steep stone streets with colorful houses.
There is a beautiful catholic church in case you looking for that but do not want to go to the old town.
The neighborhood is known as an old route that the Spanish use to get to Quito coming from the amazon.
The last location in this list for your engagement photos in Quito is a park located above the old town.
The itchimbía Park has some great views of the old town or the Pichincha volcano, including the Basilica church which is famous for being a gothic construction inspired by Notre Dame.
Here is another place with some green spaces, the crystal palace, and trees but with a scenery of the city in the background.
Hope you liked this list that was created to help you to choose some places for your engagement photos while you visited Quito.
